Right and Left Turn Variations

Add intricacy, musicality and style to your simple right and left turns by trying out some of the tricks that I show you in this video.

Add intricacy, musicality and style to your simple right and left turns.

By adding simple tricks and variations to your steps within your basic right and left turns, you can take your dancing to the next level. Don't get caught up in trying to learn the most complicated footwork out there. Just start by adding things to the movements and techniques you already KNOW!

If you train what you already know, you are forming a strong base of technical movement from which creativity can blossom. I hope you enjoy these simple variations and that you find them useful to your own dance expression. Learn them, change them, recreate them, and make them your own.

Thanks for stopping by! And let me know how this went for you in the comments below!

Put some bounce in your Salsa with PACHANGA!

I have been getting a lot of requests for Pachanga videos, so here is one to start with. In this video I go over how to prep the pachanga step from your basic salsa step. The KEY is to not skip the preparation with your hips on the 8 beat so that you can hit the first pachanga step on 1. If you can remember that you are well on your way to pachanga success!

The most important thing to remember when you are learning pachanga is to NOT let yourself get frustrated. Pachanga is a hard thing to learn, but I promise one day it will just CLICK and you will say to yourself, OH MY GOSH I GET IT! So, just keep practicing, because it just takes time.

Feel free to ask me any questions or any requests!

Until next time dancers!

Enjoy!

Take control of your turns with this drill sequence...

Hello!

Today was a beautiful day, a very welcome break from all the cold and the snow. So, I decided to go with my roommate to a yoga class and I am so glad that I did. I absolutely LOVE how I feel after taking a good yoga class. For a good yoga class really depends on the instructor. It is so important to find an instructor that I feel pushes me and teaches me just what I need to know to improve. This inspires me to be the best instructor that I can be. I am dedicated to helping my students improve in any way that I can. I like to learn to be a better teacher with everything that I do, and today that was through an incredible yoga class.

So inspiring...

So, since I felt super BALANCED after taking yoga, I decided to do something special for you all with this week's video. Today we are focusing on turns and how to have more control and balance when you dance. One of the most difficult parts about turning is maintaining balance, so I hope that working on these drills will help you work some of the fine muscles in your feet, ankles, legs and core in order to improve your balance in your turns.

Make sure to keep your toes turned out, your abdominals engaged, and your weight committed to one foot or the other.

I hope you enjoy these drills and that you will improve your turns by training them. Please let me know in the comments what you thought of the drills, any questions you may have, what you want to learn next, or anything you want to share with me and the world!

THANK YOU for stopping by!

Tootles!
